Sara Jane Stone just keeps upping the ante with every book she writes in this series. I say this because each book has been better than the previous one!
I figured that Brody’s book was going to be a doozy because he is the big brother and the caretaker. He is always in charge and in control of himself and the situation. Brody rarely has a chance to let loose. He has so much pressure and responsibility professionally and personally and he rarely takes time for himself. Any time he has spent with women has been here and there on the down low. Kat comes along and pushes Brody’s personal control buttons and when he gets pushed past his own limits, it’s quite impressive.
He’d always held back, giving the women he’d dated what they wanted. But he’d never taken. He’d never issued commands. In bed and out, he put the people he cared about first. He shouldered other people’s problems- listening, caring, and fixing.
Translation: dude needs to get laid and take control in the bedroom. Kat gets to live out a fantasy she has had since she was teenager and lusting after Brody in high school. Little does he know, Kat is his brother’s doctor and he has no idea (at first) that they went to high school together. Needless to say, Kat has grown up and left Independence Falls and has made quite a life herself. Not only does she want to be desirable to Brody but she wants to show the people of Independence Falls that she is not the same foster child she used to be. Of course, some impressions of people die hard in a small town and Kat has to deal with some of the snotty people from high school etc.
How will Brody and Kat get their HEA? Kat works in New York and Brody has his family in Independence Falls? I think I enjoyed that aspect of books a great deal…how does the author bring them together without giving up so much of their own identities and purpose?
Being that this is the last book in the Independence Falls (sad face) it was nice to see previous couples’ HEAs get wrapped with nice little bows. I always enjoy a well-written family oriented series and Ms. Stone created an engaging, funny and super steamy series surrounding the Summers’s friends family.

Your dad’s been waiting for you. He’ll be glad to see you.
Now that the Independence Falls series is over, what are you working on now?
Wild With You is the last book in the Independence Falls series. But this won’t be the last time you see these characters! Next month, I’ll start working on a spin-off series about three soldiers who have one wild night before they deploy, and what happens when they return home. Fans of the Independence Falls series might recall Noah from the shooting range in HERO BY NIGHT. He’s the hero of the first book.
Right now, I’m writing the second book in my new SIN CITY SEALS series. The first book, TO TEMPT A SEAL, will be published by Brazen (an imprint of Entangled) this summer.
Do you have a favorite Summers brother?
I love them all, but Chad, the hero in HERO BY NIGHT, was my favorite to write.
Where do you write? Is it a desk or do you write on your couch with a laptop?
Anywhere! I work on my laptop at a desk if I can. I write on planes, trains, and long hand while cooking dinner for my kids. I often stop while running and type out dialogue on my phone so that I don’t forget a scene that has popped into my head. With two preschool age kids at home, I try to make the most of my time.
Do you listen to music while you write? (If so what are some of your favorites?)
I prefer silence. But when the kids are around and I have a deadline looming, I’ll write with the Frozen soundtrack playing in the background.
What is your favorite snack to eat while you write?
Vegan dumplings, magic cookies, and soup. This is my go-to take out order from my favorite vegan restaurant.
Are you a plotter or a pantser?
Pantser. I start with a loose outline and then jot down notes in my phone or on a legal pad. My writing process often feels like pure chaos. And I love every minute of it!
