  • Review: Soul Deep by Pamela Clare (I-Team 6.5)

A couple of years ago, almost two to be exact, I started this blog.  I was already a HUGE Pamela Clare fan and she was publishing Striking Distance (I-Team #7) that Fall.  I REALLY wanted to read and review that book.  Being that I was a teeny tiny brand new blog, I wasn’t quite up to snuff where publishers were concerned.  Ms. Clare sent me a galley copy of Striking Distance for me to review.  God bless her.  That book is highlighted and bookmarked with Post-It note flags.  Even better, I read it during a trip for my 40th birthday.  I loved that book and I always will.

What does all that have to do with Soul Deep? Well, after an absence due to a very valiant battle with Cancer, Ms. Clare is BACK!!! Soul Deep is our first taste of the writing that we love so much from Ms. Clare.  Plus, this book is a nice change of pace due to the age of the characters.  Jack is 63 and Janet is 45.  I’ll admit that I do tire of reading about 20somethings all the time and it’s nice to read a book where the MCs are older and still sexy as hell.  And granted, even I had to adjust to a much older MC but it was pretty easy for me to imagine a man like him.   Jack and Janet have made appearances in previous books and have an interesting history with each other.

Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it whet my appetite for Ms. Clare’s NEW book in the I-Team series, SEDUCTION GAME.  Holly is finally getting her book!!! HALLELUJAH!!!  (Available 10/20)

  • 1 book, 3 reviews: Ride Steady by Kristen Ashley

    Mandy

I’ll admit that the last few KA books have not worked out all that well for me.  I was a bit concerned that Ride Steady was going to be one of those too.  Luckily, I LOVED Ride Steady!  I loved Joker and Carissa so very much.  Everything I love about a KA book was there- the alpha men, the strong women, the whole Chaos crew was in effect.  Tack and Tyra played an important role in Ride Steady and it was so nice to have Tack and his protective and somewhat meddling (?) ways back.  Getting Carissa and Carson (Joker) together definitely took a village.  They needed a push towards each and Carissa truly needed some support on her side.  Enter Tack.  Good Lord, I love that man.

Joker reminded me of Tack. He had a hard out shell, that no one could crack open until Carissa came along. Once she was in, Joker was protective, caring in the same way Tack was with Tyra.  Which, let’s face it, that is hard to resist. While a tad on the long side, I still enjoyed the whole dang thing.

After reading Ride Steady, I cannot wait for more from this series.  I’m so glad that the KA mojo was working for me with this one. 4.5 stars

I have certain expectations when I read a Kristen Ashley book. There should be interesting and likable characters, sexual tension and hot love scenes, and a plot that engages me from beginning to end. Lucky for me, this story has it all, in spades. When you place two characters who’ve had their share of adversity and give them a chance to make things right for themselves by being together, you get a pretty special story, and that’s definitely the case with these two people who knew each other in high school and reconnect again later in life. Carson” Joker” Steele is the classic alpha male, with a bit of a twist. He’s come from an abusive household, but this hasn’t stopped him from making something of himself. He’s a talented artist and has used his skills to become a real player in the world of car rebuilding. Not only that, but he’s found himself a place with the Chaos Motorcycle club, a place where he finally belongs. Yet, now that things are moving in the right direction for him, he still remembers the people in his childhood who gave him what they could to make his life bearable, people he now reconnects within some of the really heartwarming and honest moments in the story. When Carissa enters his life again, the teenage girl he had a crush on is now a single mother with a child who’s going through a rough patch financially and emotionally. The fact that he can do something about this, to make her life better, is something he doesn’t hesitate to do. I loved everything about Joker – his honesty, his determination, and his methods of securing a good future for Carissa, including his presence in it. He’s the sweetest guy when it comes to caring for her and her child Travis, and the teddy bear hidden inside the rough biker shell comes out repeatedly when they are together. I also really admired Carissa for her dedication to doing whatever she needed to do to give her son and herself what she could to make their lives better. It’s hard for her at first to accept help from Joker and his friends, but she soon realizes that if there is ever a chance to return the favor, she will do it. Their love affair is slow to build at first as Joker is firm about establishing a presence in Carissa’s life before planting himself in her bed, but once they get together their love scenes are steamy and emotional.

One of the more interesting aspects to me about this story was the way it was told. It’s a dual point of view story (with the occasional chapter thrown in from other characters). Carissa’s viewpoint is told from the first person so we get all her thoughts and feelings direct from her. As the story progresses she really blossoms as a woman who finally is getting the man she deserves and the love she has craved for so long. Joker’s part on the other hand, is told from the third person so we get intimacy from him as well, but in a different form. He also undergoes a real revolution in thinking from when he meets Carissa as an adult through to the end of the story, realizing that he wants the family and love that he’s seen some of his brothers have. You get a real sense of the specialness of those relationships in this story, and the strong friendships he’s developed in the club. It was great to see some of the characters from the dream men and rock chick series make special appearances as the plot progressed. There’s a real white knight rescue kind of vibe to the story as Carissa is taken in by Joker and Chaos and becomes someone they all look out for, giving her justice for the way her ex-husband has treated her and making her one of the family. It was an excellent read, and it’s definitely going to be on my list of favorites by Kristen Ashley. 5 stars

I will read anything Kristen Ashley writes, but it’s been no secret that I haven’t enjoyed her last couple of novels as much as I have all of her  others. So I was more than a little nervous when I picked this one up.  Right from the prologue I could tell that this one was going to be much better.

I loved Carissa and Joker’s story. It was great and it was told well. Joker and Carissa knew each other in high school but always just circled around each other. They were both secretly intrigued by the other but neither ever acted on it.  Joker had a rough childhood and finally took off to find his place leaving Carissa to find her beautiful life. Meanwhile, Carissa was the golden girl but fell on rough times later on. She meets Joker again by chance and he steps up like Chaos does to give her a hand. They are great characters and Joker was a terrific hero. I loved all the scenes with him and baby Travis.  There were also a lot of great lines and a lot of good moments. Not to mention the chemistry between them was off the charts and the sexy times were scorching! Chaos always delivers and there were some fun cameos from many of my favorite characters including Tack and Tyra.

My only complaint is that this seemed just a smidge too long. I feel like a lot of the plot points could have been wrapped up a little sooner. There was also some things that were built up to create some tension but then just fizzled because the drama never came. I know some people appreciate no nonsense and I do in real life, but sometimes I want a little of that drama in my books. As frustrating as it can sometimes be, it is entertaining. We always think we want the main characters to “just talk to each other please and avoid all this crap!” but honestly when it happens that way it’s kind of anti-climatic. Other than that this was exactly what I normally expect from a Kristen Ashley novel. I was glad to see some of the action that developed that will carry the Chaos drama through the series. That was really well done. I know that the next book is High’s book and while I was intrigued by him and his situation that was described in this novel, I’m much more interested right now in Snapper. I really really hope that he gets a book soon! The one thing that Kristen Ashley does really well is build families in many different shapes and forms and that was definitely displayed in this installment of the Chaos series. 4 Stars

  • Review: Sweet Sinful Nights by Lauren Blakely

What can I say? I’m a fan of the Nichols men.  I wish that there were more of them, though.  I fell head over heels in love with older brother, Clay Nichols in Ms. Blakely’s Seductive Nights. (Blog post)  I’m not sure what Clay and Brent’s father told them when they were growing up, but I’d like to bottle it and sell it.

I cannot even express how happy I was to be back amongst the fabulousness? fabulosity? of a Nichols man.  They are alphas to the core, sexy as hell and complete and utter panty dropping dirty talkers.  On top of all of that, Brent is a (former) comedian and he is hilarious.  What I also loved was that Shannon was so well matched for him. After being engaged to each other and splitting up over Brent’s own hard headed stupidity, it was only fair that they got a second chance.  Brent realized that he had a GOLDEN opportunity, to get back the woman he truly loved.  There was no question that Shannon and Brent belonged together!  It was a matter of the two of them learning to be honest with each other and working through what drove them apart in the first place.

There was a lot of sighing, swooning and hot flashes while I read this book.  I absolutely cannot wait for more from this series.  Alas, there are no more Nichols brothers but I have faith that I’ll love Shannon’s brothers almost (?) as much as Brent and Clay.  😉

She turned to look at him, and neither one of them said a word. Her green eyes were dark and intense. Her lips were so close. The inches between them were swallowed whole by the connection that crackled between them. She seemed to sway closer, and he moved in, seizing the moment.

He lifted his hand to her hair, still sleek in its twist, different from the shade she’d had when he knew her, but beautiful just the same. A strand had fallen loose, chestnut brown and curled. He touched it, ran his finger across the single lock. Time melted away as he leaned into the familiar crook of her neck. The craving for her ran so damn deep it lived inside his bones.

He inhaled her, that honey scent, a new smell that in an instant marked her.

“Shan,” he whispered, rough and gravelly, filled with so much want for her, which had built over the years, grown higher, spread further, formed roots. Inhabited him. He was desperate to have her in his arms again, to smother her in kisses that erased all the years.

“Brent,” she whispered, his name sounding like sugar on her tongue.

He buried his face in her neck, layering kisses on her soft skin. “Where have you been?” he asked, though it was entirely rhetorical. She hadn’t been with him. He hadn’t been with her. That was the answer.

“Where were you?” she countered softly.

He lifted his face and looked her in the eyes as he brushed the back of his fingers along her cheek. “Thinking of you,” he said.

He didn’t know how he’d gone from breaking two glasses to finding her falling into his arms. But that was where they were. He cupped her cheeks in his hands. “You’re so fucking beautiful,” he rasped out, and then he crushed her mouth. He consumed her lips. He kissed her hard, and greedily, and the world around him turned black and small. It faded into a speck of nothingness because there was room for nothing else in his world but her.

Q&A about the Sinful Nights series:

Does this take place after the events in the Seductive Nights series?

A: Yes. This story begins one year after the final Seductive Nights book.

Can I read this if I haven’t read the Seductive Nights series?

A: Yes! You won’t miss a beat if you start with SWEET SINFUL NIGHTS. That’s why it’s Book One!

Brent is Clay’s brother. Does this mean Clay will be in SWEET SINFUL NIGHTS?

A: Why yes! He will indeed appear in a handful of scenes!

Is this series similar to the Seductive Nights series?

A: Absolutely. The hero in book one is a Nichols man! Nichols men are known for being dirty, passionate and fiercely loyal! You can also expect scorching hot sex scenes, dirty talk, high-class and glamorous settings, and passionate love. Have I mentioned the heat :)?

  • Review: Relentless by Skye Jordan

Lord have mercy, Skye Jordan never fails to completely suck me into one of her books. Relentless kept me up reading until 1:15 am the other night and it was hours of  sleep that I was perfectly okay with losing.  Freaking Troy… I did not see this guy coming.  He was kind of a jackass and I wanted to punch him a few times.

No punches were pulled in Relentless. Troy and Giselle had some major history and baggage between them that had to be hashed out.   It wasn’t easy between the two of them.  They had so much anger between them at times and Ms. Jordan didn’t glaze over it and I appreciated that.  I guess you could call it angst, but I think that wouldn’t be giving that aspect of the storyline enough credit.  Troy and Giselle argued and yelled and had pissed off sex.  I swear at one point, I was yelling at my Kindle…at Troy. “WTF are you thinking, dude?”  Luckily, he comes to his senses somewhat (lol) because the connection and history between him and Giselle is too deep to deny.

Ms. Jordan is a master of the sexytimes.  Every single book of hers…so freaking hot and I swear, I got some serious hot flashes from this one.

  • Review: Up in Smoke by Tessa Bailey Excerpt

    up in smoke blog tour

Connor was a lot different than I anticipated, I thought he’d be kind of grumpy and crass. I had a hard time getting a read on him when we met him in Sera and Bowen’s book.  Once he met Erin, he was done for. She immediately appealed to him, despite her many issues.  Sometimes a female MC with “issues” can very hard to like, not the case with Erin.  Even with her issues, Erin is one of my favorite heroines.  She is hilarious and smart and an extremely unique female character who  manages to find humor and irony in her own issues.   I had to wonder how Erin was going to get past her issues to become intimate with Connor, but Ms. Bailey brought her along as slowly as she could despite the absolutely boiling over attraction that Connor and Erin had for each other.

Can I just say that there is a whole lot of testosterone in this book?  The combination of Derek, Bowen and Connor in one room is almost too much to handle.  I found myself needing to stick my head in the freezer to alleviate the hot flashes. Let’s not forget Austin, his book is next and I cannot wait to see what he brings to the table.

As always, Ms. Bailey brings us a ridiculously sexy couple in Connor and Erin.

As if her thoughts had made him appear, Connor strode into the courthouse. Her pulse started beating double time, her stomach muscles tightening. Good Lord, the man was a fucking panty dropper. She’d only been away from him for a few hours and it felt like years since she’d experienced his presence. In jeans and a fitted gray T-shirt that molded to his muscles like her hands itched to do, he personified confidence and authority. Hot, rugged male. His gaze connected with hers immediately and darkened. She thought back to that morning when he’d dressed in the early morning light, his abs flexing as he pulled the shirt over his head. His erection barely contained by his boxers. She’d never been one to beg for anything, but she’d been seconds from offering him her mouth. Pleading for the privilege of sucking him off.

Conner shook his head at her with a sexy half smile on his face, as if he could read her thoughts across the room. He stopped at the metal detector and walked through after the security guard beckoned him forward. When the woman grabbed her wand and instructed him to raise his hands in the air, something ugly reared its head deep inside her. The detector hadn’t even beeped. There was no reason for the personal service. When the woman smiled at Connor and ran a hand down her ponytail, Erin propelled herself forward, boots echoing on the polished marble.

Erin hissed as she drew even with the guard. “If you’re done feeling up my boyfriend, I’d love a turn. We were in a rush this morning.”

The guard dropped the wand, letting it dangle near her thigh. “Did you just hiss at me?”

    Erin hissed again.

“Okay.” Connor stepped between them, winking down at her. “We should go. Don’t want to keep the clerk waiting.”

Appreciation spread in her belly like honey. He hadn’t chided her for her behavior or apologized to the woman on her behalf. Instead he’d given the impression they were on their way to get married, appeasing her jealousy in one fell swoop. “That’s right.” She sauntered toward the elevator. “There’s vows to be exchanged. Rings to put on fingers. Shit like that.”

She glanced behind her to find Connor staring at her ass as she walked, so she put a little swing in her hips and savored his groan. Damn. She’d definitely never had this much fun at a courthouse.

A moment later, she and Connor stepped into an empty elevator. She hit the button for the top floor even though the clerk was on the first, and leaned back against the wall, looking up at him through her eyelashes. “How was your morning, baby? Was it worth leaving me in bed, all hot and bothered for you?”

“Fuck no, it wasn’t.” He crooked a big finger at her. “Climb on up here.”

  • Review: Fighting For Forever by JB Salsbury

    RDB Banner

Some authors are one trick ponies where series are concerned.  Their books run together because the characters are too similar.  Ms. Salsbury is no one trick pony.  While I haven’t been crazy googly eyes over all of the Fighting guys, I’ve always appreciated that they have been interesting and unique characters.

Love and revenge. Trix is hell-bent on avenging the death of her sister and takes it upon herself to find her sister’s killer and even the score. Which is why we (and Mason) meet Trix as a stripper.  She is using the position as a way to find information on who took her sister’s life.  She comes from a loving and happy family and they were a welcome addition to the book.  I think there is an impression (that is perpetuated in many books) that to be a stripper, you have to have had a horrible family life.  Not the case for Trix, she is hell-bent on avenging her sister’s killer and will do anything to find that person.  Her parents know what she is doing and while they aren’t exactly happy about what she is doing, they love and support her. I enjoyed learning about her and the time that she and Mason spent with her brothers and sisters was sweet.

Ahhhh, Mason.  I really liked Mason.  For me, he was reminiscent of Jonah and let’s face it, if it wasn’t for Jonah I wouldn’t be reading this series in the first place! Despite his lighthearted demeanor at times, Mason is an intense guy and he is what I’d call a “sweet and sensitive Alpha”.  He cares so very much for those around him and has been hurt for allowing himself to be that vulnerable.

Another very enjoyable to this book was the complex suspense aspect.  I really enjoyed how Ms. Salsbury wove both characters into the suspense plot and how she let it all unfold.

Mason will definitely be on my list of favorite Fighting series guys.  I have to admit that initially, I was a little bit skeptical of how much I’d like Trix but I really did enjoy Trix and Mason’s story.

  • Review: Back to You by Lauren Dane

I’ve been sitting on this review for a while, trying to figure out how to write it. Not because I didn’t enjoy the book, on the contrary, I did.

I would think that this would be a bit of a difficult book for some people to connect with because of the subject matter, divorce and reconciliation.  I have found that the reconciliation part can be very hard for people on the outside to understand.  I’ll admit that I’ve had some personal experience where all of this is concerned and therein lies the difficulty for me to write this review.

This was a risky book for Ms. Dane to write.  How many readers would be sympathetic to Vaughan? Let me be clear though, Vaughan isn’t a bad guy, he was just immature and had his priorities screwed up a bit.  In my experience, most are not that forgiving even when someone admits that they are wrong. The crux of this for Kelly and for anyone really is TRUST.  How do you rebuild what was broken and so very delicate to begin with?

It’s a huge risk to take when you decide to trust someone again after they have broken your trust.  I salute Kelly and her ability to open back up to Vaughan and give him an opportunity to prove that he will make his family his first priority.  Vaughan really makes a commitment to be there for his family every day, going as far as moving into Kelly’s house (sleeping in the guest room) so he can be involved with his daughter’s on a daily basis.  Not only is he proving he is worthy of Kelly and her love but also his love and commitment as a parent.

The bow chicka wow wow part of Kelly and Vaughan is pretty HOT.  They always had good chemistry and I guess there is something to say for having that kind of chemistry with each other after so many years. Kelly and Vaughan still got it goin’ on and it seems to better than ever between them.  A lot can happen to a person in 8 years.  Kelly raises her girls, educates herself, starts her own business and gets engaged.  Vaughan grows up and finally wakes the EFF up when Kelly gets engaged.  Sometimes that’s what it takes to wake a guy up and better late than never! 🙂

  • #Review: One Night with the Billionaire by Jessica Clare

I LOVED this book.  Normally, I would not pick up a book in the middle of a series but I fell in love with Ms. Clare when I read The Billionaire and The Virgin.  I jumped at the chance to read anything by her and dove into Cade and Kylie’s book.  Cade makes an appearance in The Billionaire and The Virgin and I was immediately interested in his story. This guy…. is so freaking sweet and HOT and holy crap, I LOVED him.  He is Book Boyfriend material for sure.

Cade is such a good guy.  Really.  He has put up with so much from Daphne and she pretty much kept his balls in a jar for a while there. Not to mention that he wonders if their feelings for each other are deeper than the one disastrous time they slept together.  Daphne is an addict, plain and simple.  She is a hot mess and her record company hires Kylie to keep Daphne looking like she is in much better shape than she is actually in.  What does Daphne do?  Act like an asshole.  Cade has been best friends with Daphne and her twin sister Audrey (The Wrong Billionaire’s Bed) since they were kids.  So, he has dealt with her drama for years.

Kylie is a sweet and loveable character. She works extremely hard as a very talented makeup artist in order to support herself and her ailing grandmother.  Kylie has some issues and they are thanks to her grandmother, who was never very nice to her.(And that’s putting it lightly)  Thanks to that, Kylie is very conscious of her size/figure.  Kylie is fuller figured and I love that Ms. Clare writes characters that aren’t the same old same old skinny minnies.  I had this kind of luscious pin up girl image of Kylie in my head.  I really liked Kylie.  She worked so hard and dealt with Daphne’s craziness like a pro.

Enter Cade.  He goes to the concert to hang out with Daphne, meets Kylie and there is an instant attraction to her. The connection between Cade and Kylie is so easy and I enjoyed the build up to the beginning of their relationship.  Kylie is hesitant to hook up with Cade because she knows how much Daphne cares for Cade and frankly, she doesn’t want to piss off Daphne and lose her job.  Cade, to his credit, finally pulls his head out of his ass and sees the difference between Kylie and Daphne and goes full speed ahead for what he wants- Kylie.

God…good guy Cade with sexy talk.

    “I don’t look like Daphne.”

“Thank fucking Christ for that,” he said, and put his hands at the sides of her neck and drew her in for another searing kiss.  “I love the way you look,” he mumured against her mouth.  “I love your lush body.  It’s one on the reasons I’m attracted to you.”

His hands slid to her shoulders, and then down her arms, and he studies her wuth pleasure.  “Your breasts.  Your hips.  Your curves.  Your softness.  Fuck, you’re pretty.”

Sigh. So yeah I loved Cade.  I thoroughly enjoyed this book so much that I went back and read book three in the series (The Wrong Billionaire’s Bed) to get some more backstory on Cade/Daphne/Audrey.  Holy hot tamales, that was a hot book too.  I intend on reading all the books in that series.

Even though she is jerk in a good portion of this book, I’d like to see Daphne get herself straight and get her own HEA. 🙂

  • Review: Shuttergirl by C.D. Reiss #excellent #BIGgiveaway

    shuttergirl teaser tour

I’ve read one whole book by Ms. Reiss and I have several more on my Kindle.  The first book I read, Beg (Book 1- Songs of Submission) was EXCELLENT and I am constantly kicking myself about needing to read more of the series.

Enter Shuttergirl.  When I hosted the cover reveal, I knew this was a book I needed to read.  I was not disappointed one single bit.  Not one bit.

I have a notebook that I keep review notes in and sometimes I take lots of notes and sometimes I get so wrapped up in a book, I don’t.  Fortunately (unfortunately?) I did not take a lot of notes on this one because this book totally ATE MY BRAIN.

From the very beginning, the connection between Michael and Laine is undeniable even after their years spent apart and living on different sides of the camera lens. Laine is the paparazza and Michael is her prey.  Every time she takes a picture of him, she remembers him. She remembers the kindness he offered her when they were schoolmates.  His kindness to her does not keep her from selling the pictures to the highest bidder.  Laine is nothing if not a survivor and she is an INCREDIBLE character. None of this whiny, oh woe is me crap from her. Thank the baby Jesus for a well written damaged but strong and confident female MC.

Due the nature of their professions, Michael and Laine have no business orbiting in each other’s worlds any closer than the already do.  So I kept wondering how the heck Ms. Reiss was going to make it work.  You want to know how?  CHARACTER GROWTH.  Shit happens you know?  We make decisions and they impact our lives in all kinds of ways. Michael and Laine navigate their relationship amidst the twists, turns and pressures of their lives.  Laine goes from being on one end of the camera- the paparazza, to the girlfriend of a movie star.  Her professional life is thrown into turmoil in a matter of hours after a picture of her and Michael is taken. Laine’s life changes as fast as the click of the shutter.

One of the signs of a good book for me is the ability of the author to keep me wondering how in the world two characters can overcome their circumstances to be together.  Ms. Reiss and her raw, elegant and lyrical prose kept me riveted and her depiction of Los Angeles creates a character all on its own.

As Shakespeare so famously wrote- “The course of true love never did run smooth”.  Ms. Reiss gives us a raw, passionate and brave love story between Michael and Laine and I for one am glad I took the journey with them.

I stroked his hair, waist deep in peace, all worry gone for the moment, and floating in no more than an ocean of gratitude. I must have been more vulnerable than I realized, or he’d reopened some wound with his kindness, because though my sweet reverie stayed, as the minutes passed, a layer of need fitted itself on top of it.

I needed to tell him, if not the details, the outlines of who I was.

“I want you to know,” I whispered, starting somewhere small, then everything I didn’t want to say spilled out. “I have stuff. I’ve never been to jail, but you know, it’s stuff, and it’s ugly, and it scares me. Because, I mean, you’re so perfect, and I’m… I’m just a mess. I’m not whole. I’m a bunch of pieces of a person I cobbled together.” My eyes got wet when I thought of the comparisons between us and that picture in my silverware drawer. “So if you have to move on when you realize that, I’ll understand. You have an image, and if anyone understands protecting a career, it’s me. I mean, I’ll be mad, don’t get that wrong, but also.” I swallowed and blinked, shifting my head so he wouldn’t feel the tear on his forehead. “I won’t blame you.”

I waited for an answer. Anything. A change in position or a word on any subject. The weather. Sports. Something. But all he did was breathe.

I smiled so wide, tears fell into my mouth. He was sleeping.

Maybe you’d bring a friend or two, or maybe you’d just get a manipedi when you wanted one. Because the life of a megastar ain’t for the weak-willed or lazy, and running from paparazzi can really wear down a girl’s nails.

Woodhouse Spas are no joke. They’re all over the country and they’re….sigh. Fabulous. But if you don’t live near one, we can do Burke Williams, Halcyon Days or Red Door.

  • Review: Elements of Chemistry- Capture by Penny Reid

I had extremely high hopes for the third part of The Elements of Chemistry series and Ms. Reid did not disappoint me one single bit.  She could’ve thrown Martin and Kaitlyn back together instead, she allows them take their time.

I really loved that they took their own sweet time and spent time together in a non-sexual way, which was what they should’ve done from the very beginning.  Kaitlyn and Martin spend almost a year away from each other and during that time, they do a lot of growing up and changing.  Clearly, they needed that time to examine their own lives and decide what they really wanted to do.

When they finally circle back around to each other (and let’s face it, they are totally MFEO-madeforeachother) they are finally ready to be in a mature relationship with each other.  The pull between them was completely undeniable and the UST was painful at times, but I appreciated the development of the relationship.  When Kaitlyn and Martin finally get back together for good, it could not be more right.  Sigh.

Penny Reid, thank you so much for taking your time with Martin and Kaitlyn in Capture, you’ve certainly captured my devotion…once again.

Edited to add– I was looking for something to say about this book on FB and how it’s the last book and I’m kinda sad. One of my favorite songs came to mind, an oldie but a goodie by Crowded House.  (Is my age showing?) “Hey now, hey now, don’t dream it’s over…”
